Protect Yourself from Becoming a Victim of Scams

Posted by: LBS Financial on January 4, 2022

The number of identity theft cases has continued to grow tremendously over the years. Unfortunately, fraudsters continue to invent new and different ways to steal your information.

Here are some tips to protect yourself and your account against fraud:

Enroll in online alerts
Enroll in alerts via your LBS Financial Online or Mobile Banking profile. This includes signing up for email or text alerts that notify you when certain events occur such as logins into your account, username/password changes and contact information changes.

Be aware of scams
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Scams are not only limited to the internet. Criminals also use phone, text, social media, and email scams to gain personal information and commit fraud and identity theft. Please refer to the “Avoiding Scams” section within the Account Security page on our website for up-to-date examples of ongoing scams.

Use a credit monitoring service
Consider signing up for a credit monitoring service that notifies you when changes are posted to your credit report. This is one of the fastest ways to find out if someone has opened new accounts in your name. Visit our website for more information and to stay in the know about the latest scams and tactics used by fraudsters.
